About the role:

Our client is looking for an experienced Heavy Duty Technician with strong mechanical skills to maintain, repair, and service heavy mining and construction equipment.

Location: Kitwe, Ndola Chiliabombwe / Mining Sites

Employment Type: Full-Time

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance: Perform scheduled servicing, lubrication, and preventative care on heavy machinery.
  • Diagnosis: Use diagnostic tools, manuals, and blueprints to find faults in engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
  • Repair & Replacement: Fix or replace worn parts (bearings, gears, pistons) and overhaul major components like transmissions and hydraulic pumps.
  • System Expertise: Work on diesel engines, brakes, cooling systems, A/C, and electrical/computer systems.
  • Field Service: Travel to worksites to perform repairs and respond to service calls.
  • Documentation: Keep detailed logs of inspections, repairs, costs, and equipment history.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years proven experience as a Heavy Duty Technician
  • Hands-on experience working on heavy equipment brands, including but not limited to:
    • CAT (Caterpillar)
    • Komatsu
    • Volvo
    • Other similar heavy equipment brands
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Engines
    • Hydraulics
    • Transmissions
    • Brake and suspension systems

Additional Requirements:

  • Relevant mechanical trade qualification or certification
  • Ability to read and understand service manuals and technical drawings
  • Experience in preventive maintenance and breakdown repairs
  • Willingness to work on mining sites and remote locations
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Commitment to safety and operational standards

Compensation:

The incumbent will receive a competitive salary commensurate with experience.
