Background
An established Equipment Hire and Hauling company in Zambia invites qualified and experienced technical professionals to join its dedicated team. Focused on maximising fleet efficiency, maintaining reliable equipment, and minimising downtime, this organisation offers multiple full-time positions across various engineering and maintenance disciplines.
Role Objective
Inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair heavy trucks and machinery to ensure safe, efficient operation with minimal downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance, servicing, and repairs on excavators, loaders, bulldozers, graders, and dump trucks.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic faults using diagnostic tools.
- Overhaul engines, transmissions, axles, brakes, and steering systems.
- Conduct routine inspections and report potential issues proactively.
- Maintain accurate repair documentation and interpret technical manuals.
- Coordinate maintenance schedules with supervisors and operators to reduce downtime.
- Respond promptly to workshop and field breakdowns.
- Maintain a clean, safe work environment and comply with HSE regulations.
Qualifications & Experience
- Craft Certificate or Diploma in Heavy Equipment Mechanics or Mechanical Engineering.
- Grade 12 Certificate.
- EIZ Membership.
- Valid driver’s licence with a clean record.
- Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, transmissions, and torque converters.
- At least 3 years’ experience in maintenance or engineering within mining, quarry, earthworks, or construction sectors.
- Experience with Engineering Maintenance Management Systems.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
