The North Western Provincial Health Office, under the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) Project through a Cooperative Agreement (CoAg) with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the positions listed below, to be employed on a ten (10) month contract, renewable subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funds.

POSITION 12: HIV PREVENTION AND COMMUNITY PROGRAM OFFICER — 1 (ONE) POSITION

Job Purpose

To coordinate the implementation of HIV prevention and community-based health programs in order to reduce new infections and strengthen community health outcomes.

Job Responsibilities

HIV Testing

Coordinates the implementation of HIV Testing Services among target populations in order to facilitate timely linkage to treatment.

Prevention Programs

Coordinates HIV prevention interventions (including PrEP, PEP, condom distribution, male circumcision, and behaviour change communication) in order to reduce new infections.

Community Engagement

Strengthens community mobilization and participation in HIV programs in order to improve service uptake and sustainability.

Treatment Support & Retention

Coordinates community-based support for HIV-positive clients to improve adherence and long-term retention in care.

Monitoring & Evaluation

Undertakes monitoring and evaluation of HIV prevention and community programs in order to inform decision-making.

Capacity Building

Coordinates training and mentorship of community volunteers, peer educators, and facility staff in order to impart knowledge and skills.

Knowledge and Skills Requirements

  • Full Grade 12 Certificate or Form V or equivalent.
  • Bachelor of Science in Public Health, Community Development, or equivalent.
  • At least three (3) years of relevant experience in HIV prevention or community health programs.
  • Ability to prepare comprehensive reports.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English and local languages.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Integrity and confidentiality.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Initiative and community mobilization skills.

NOTE: Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA)-verified qualification documents will be an added advantage for all applications submitted under this announcement.
