Role Overview: HR Coordinator Jobs in Lusaka
The HR Coordinator will serve as a pivotal member of the senior management team, collaborating across departments and with external stakeholders to maintain up-to-date HR policies aligned with Zambian regulations. This role requires building and leading a capable HR team that acts as a trusted business partner, embodying the company’s values while supporting organizational growth and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily HR operations including payroll administration and provide practical guidance to management, employees, and HR staff.
- Develop and maintain the annual HR budget in collaboration with the country’s CFO.
- Lead recruitment strategy and planning, ensuring alignment with organizational needs and accommodation for rural-based roles.
- Oversee talent management processes focusing on efficiency, succession planning, and performance evaluations understood and utilized by employees and managers.
- Lead and participate in cross-functional projects such as employee engagement initiatives.
- Conduct internal investigations related to policy violations, preparing reports with findings and recommendations.
- Implement retention programs through learning, career development, and performance management.
- Design resourceful training approaches for managers and onboarding programs for new staff.
- Drive policy compliance and training in line with learning strategies using effective communication and tools.
- Manage the internal HR system to enhance the employee experience and operational efficiency.
Candidate Profile and Required Skills
- Excellent communication, leadership, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively within a matrix organizational structure.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing HR functions in a large, busy organization.
- At least 3 to 4 years of HR experience in a commercial bank or well-established microfinance institution.
- Advanced knowledge of Zambian labour laws, regulations, and HR best practices.
- Proven expertise in recruitment, staff development, compliance, and legal aspects of HR management.
- Membership with the Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management (ZIHRM) and a valid practicing certificate is mandatory.
