Job Purpose:
HRLeverage Zambia is a human resources and workforce solutions company specializing in recruitment, outsourcing, and HR advisory services. We are seeking to hire a competent and results-driven HR Generalist to deliver end-to-end HR services across the employee lifecycle.
The HR Generalist is responsible for managing and executing the full spectrum of human resource functions, ensuring efficient HR operations, compliance with labour laws, and effective employee management. The role supports organizational and client-related HR initiatives by delivering high-quality, end-to-end HR services across the employee lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Full HR Operations
- Manage the full employee lifecycle including recruitment, onboarding, development, and offboarding
- Oversee day-to-day employee management including attendance, leave, discipline, and employee queries
- Coordinate and support payroll processes, ensuring accuracy of employee data and statutory deductions (NAPSA, NHIMA, PAYE)
- Ensure implementation and adherence to HR policies and procedures
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date HR records and systems
HR Administration & Compliance
- Draft and administer employment contracts, policies, and HR documentation in line with Zambian labour laws
- Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements
- Support disciplinary and grievance processes in accordance with company policy and legal standards
- Prepare HR reports, audit documentation, and compliance records
Recruitment & Talent Management
- Manage end-to-end recruitment processes (job profiling, sourcing, screening, interviews, and selection)
- Facilitate onboarding and induction of new employees
- Support workforce planning, succession planning, and talent development initiatives
- Support in Conducting job evaluations, salary benchmarking, and role structuring
Employee Relations & HR Advisory
- Provide day-to-day HR support and advisory services to management and employees
- Handle employee relations matters, including conflict resolution and disciplinary procedures
- Guide managers on HR best practices and labour law compliance
- Support employee engagement and organisational culture initiatives
Performance Management & Training
- Implement and manage performance management system
- Support performance appraisals, goal setting, and performance improvement plans
- Identify training needs and coordinate learning and development programs
- Deliver or support HR-related training initiatives
HR Projects & Continuous Improvement
- Participate in HR projects such as audits, restructuring, policy development, and organisational design
- Support development and rollout of HR programs and initiatives
- Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, systems, and service delivery
Cross-functional Coordination
- Work closely with finance, payroll, and management teams to ensure smooth HR operations
- Ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and integrity of HR data
- Support reporting, audits, and internal reviews
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a generalist HR role or similar
- Member of the Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management (ZIHRM)
- Strong knowledge of Zambian labour laws and statutory compliance.
- Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and senior stakeholders.
- Proven experience managing payroll and full HR functions
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of Zambian labour laws and statutory requirements
- Hands-on experience with payroll processes and HR systems
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
