Job Summary

The Human Resource Officer is responsible for the full spectrum of HR functions within the organization and serves as the sole HR professional. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, to support business growth in a fast-paced logistics and courier environment

The position requires hands-on management of recruitment, employee relations, compliance, performance management, and administrative HR functions across all levels of staff including drivers, dispatchers, warehouse personnel, and office employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary HR advisor to the Managing Director on all people-related matters
  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with company goals
  • Support organizational growth, workforce planning, and structure design
  • Provide guidance on staffing, succession planning, and workforce optimization
  • Lead end-to-end recruitment for all roles (drivers, riders, warehouse staff, admin, supervisors)
  • Develop job descriptions, adverts, and recruitment plans
  • Conduct interviews, reference checks, and selection processes
  • Design and manage onboarding and induction programs
  • Maintain a talent pipeline for operational roles
  • Serve as the main contact for employee issues, grievances, and disciplinary matters
  • Develop and implement employee engagement initiatives
  • Promote a positive, productive, and inclusive work culture
  • Mediate conflicts and ensure fair treatment of all employees
  • Design and implement performance appraisal systems
  • Work with department heads to set KPIs (especially for drivers and operations staff)
  • Monitor and evaluate employee performance and productivity
  • Advise management on promotions, transfers, and disciplinary actions
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records (contracts, files, attendance)
  • Draft employment contracts, confirmation letters, and HR correspondence
  • Manage employee lifecycle processes (onboarding to exit)
  • Oversee leave management, attendance, and shift scheduling records
  • Prepare and manage payroll inputs (salaries, overtime, allowances, deductions)
  • Ensure accurate and timely salary processing in coordination with finance
  • Administer benefits such as leave, insurance, and statutory contributions
  • Conduct salary benchmarking and advise on compensation structures
  • Ensure full compliance with local labor laws and regulations
  • Develop, implement, and update HR policies and procedures
  • Handle disciplinary processes in accordance with legal requirements
  • Liaise with external bodies when necessary (e.g., labor offices, regulators)
  • Identify skills gaps and training needs across departments
  • Develop and coordinate training programs (safety, driving standards, customer service)
  • Support leadership development for supervisors and team leads
  • Maintain training records and evaluate training effectiveness
  • Promote and enforce workplace health and safety standards
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations for drivers and warehouse staff
  • Coordinate accident/incident reporting and investigations
  • Implement employee wellness initiatives
  • Support workforce planning for peak delivery periods
  • Monitor attendance, punctuality, and productivity of field staff
  • Collaborate with operations to ensure adequate staffing levels
  • Address high turnover challenges common in courier operations

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or related field
  • Minimum 3–5 years HR experience, preferably in logistics, transport, or courier industry
  • Proven ability to handle HR functions independently
  • Strong knowledge of local labor laws and HR best practices
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Conflict resolution and negotiation skills
  • Adaptability in a fast-paced operational environment
