About the Human Resources Officer Role in Lusaka

As a Human Resources Officer, you will be responsible for managing the full employee lifecycle within a fast-paced FMCG and veterinary environment. The role supports both office and production staff, ensuring smooth HR operations and fostering a productive workplace culture. Candidates should possess between five and seven years of relevant experience, ideally within FMCG, manufacturing, or agro-processing industries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive HR policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Manage recruitment, selection, onboarding, and employee integration processes.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and oversee payroll inputs, leave, attendance, and benefits administration.
  • Handle employee relations, grievances, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution in line with company policy and labour legislation.
  • Ensure compliance with Zambian labour laws and statutory requirements.
  • Coordinate performance appraisal and employee development programmes.
  • Support workforce planning, manpower budgeting, and succession planning initiatives.
  • Advise management on HR policies, employee matters, and labour-related issues.
  • Prepare HR reports and workforce analytics for strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborate with relevant departments to ensure workplace health and safety compliance.
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity when handling sensitive employee information.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Public Administration, Industrial Psychology, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Professional membership in a recognized HR body is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years of HR experience, with a background in FMCG, manufacturing, agro-processing, or industrial sectors considered an advantage.

  • In-depth knowledge of HR best practices and Zambian labour legislation.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong leadership, decision-making, organisational, and administrative abilities.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Proven capability to work effectively in a fast-paced and operational environment.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of integrity.
