Background
Huachen International Supply Chain Limited is seeking to employ a Hydroelectric Project Manager in the Construction Department to join our team.
Responsibilities
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the management of the company’s water and electricity equipment during company projects and emergency maintenance of faults.
- Responsible for assisting Chinese engineers in planning and budgeting for the company's new and renovation of water and electricity projects.
- Responsible for assisting Chinese engineers in applying to local authorities (ZESCO, WARMA and Local Water Utilities) for the company's new and renovation of water and electricity projects.
- Assist Chinese engineers in developing annual electricity consumption plans and related consumables approval plans.
- Assist Chinese engineers in complying with relevant Zambian water and electricity construction regulations.
- Independently manage the company's ongoing hydropower construction projects.
- Assign daily work to assistant engineers and be responsible for project supervision, error correction and ensure projects are completed within acceptable timelines.
- Responsible for skill training and improvements for local hydropower construction teams.
- Assist Chinese engineers in following up and managing the proposed 320kwp photovoltaic project.
Qualifications and Requirements
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Must possess practical skills in water and electricity maintenance and installation operations.
- Must possess strong safety operation awareness and the ability to anticipate and identify potential equipment hazards.
- Must possess proficient experience in repairing switch circuits and the ability to handle unexpected breakdowns and malfunctions.
- Must possess strong a high sense of responsibility, teamwork spirit, leadership skills, and endure challenges.
- Must be familiar with the basic principles of maintenance, repair, safe operation, and troubleshooting of generators, photovoltaics, water heaters, transformers, water pumps, and other related equipment.
- Familiar with various aspects of construction processes, and standards of photovoltaic substation construction.
- Must possess strong learning abilities, quick to learn new processes and construction standards, be able to identify one's own shortcomings in work, and have a positive attitude.
- Able to independently create construction plans for hydro power projects, familiar with hydropower materials, understand the local material market in Zambia, and develop economically reasonable plans.
- Familiar with the various steps, nodes, and relevant standards of hydropower construction projects.
- Able to develop a reasonable skills training plan and effectively implement it based on the skills and ideological situation of the existing hydropower construction team members.
- Able to develop reasonable management plans based on the available team of local employees and effectively assign available work.
QUALIFICATIONS AND OTHER PREFERENCES
- Minimum Bachelors’ Degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering or related field.
- At least ten (10) years’ work experience with at least six (06) years managing construction, installation, and maintenance projects of water and electricity in residential areas, enterprise units, and factories.
- Must have managed and completed not less than five (05) hydropower construction projects and managed a team of not less than thirty (30).
- Must possess basic computer software skills, such as MS Office Suite, CAD water and able to interpret electricity construction drawings and electrical schematics.
- Must be familiar with material suppliers and a network of contacts with relevant Power and Water authorities.
- Work experience must include: construction, installation, maintenance, and management of water and electricity systems.
- Must be a paid member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia.
- Willing to reside within the company yard and any other construction site during projects.
- Must be a resident of Ndola or willing to re-locate.

NOTE. All interviews shall be conducted in-person at our Sakania Office in Ndola.
