Purpose

Family Legacy (FL) is a faith-based organization that exists to glorify God by equipping children in Zambia to live out their God-given potential. Since 2000, Family Legacy Missions Zambia (FLMZ) has been transforming the lives of vulnerable and orphaned children through three core programs: Camp Life, the Tree of Life Children’s Village, and the Legacy Academies using for key pillars of our ministry – academic, emotional, spiritual and physical.

The overall responsibility of the Secondary School Teacher is to impart knowledge and skills into the learners and implement scheduled and unscheduled learning activities in line with the organization’s policy on education. Monitor the conduct and discipline of learners and create an environment which will enable students to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, spiritual and psychological development. The Secondary school Teacher should promote interests of stakeholders who are the learners and caretakers.

Family Legacy Missions Zambia is committed to the highest standards of child safeguarding and the protection of vulnerable individuals. We maintain a zero-tolerance policy for all forms of abuse, exploitation, or harm. Safeguarding is an act of discipleship. Protecting the physical, emotional, spiritual, and psychological wellbeing of children reflects God’s heart for justice, dignity, and restoration. All staff are stewards of trust and are called to create environments where children are safe, heard, and able to reach their God-given potential.

All staff have a duty to uphold the organization's Child Safeguarding Policy, including mandatory reporting of any concerns or disclosures, active participation in training, and commitment to safe behavior inside and outside the workplace.

Core Safeguarding Responsibilities:

  • Always promote the safety and wellbeing of children in all organizational activities.
  • Report any suspicion, disclosure, or evidence of abuse within 24 hours to immediate supervisor or designated Safeguarding Focal Point.
  • Report concerns in good faith without fear of retaliation, including concerns involving colleagues or supervisors, using approved reporting and whistleblowing channels.
  • Cooperate fully with authorities including Police Victim Support Unit (VSU) or Ministry of Community Development and Social Welfare when cases arise.
  • Always uphold professional boundaries and follow the Code of Conduct for Working with Children.
  • Complete mandatory annual safeguarding training and demonstrate understanding of reporting procedures.
  • Maintaining confidentiality while ensuring child safety is never compromised.
  • Model respectful, appropriate behavior in all interactions with children and families.
  • Challenge unsafe practices or concerning behaviors observed in colleagues.
