Background
Turtle Insurance Brokers is seeking an IT Specialist to maintain, improve, and expand its existing in-house software system built on a WAMP stack. The primary responsibility of this role will be to ensure the smooth operation of the company’s software platform, develop and implement new features as business needs evolve, and maintain the company’s IT infrastructure, including network security and connectivity between company devices.
The ideal candidate should have strong full-stack development skills, particularly in PHP and MySQL, along with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues, support users, and contribute to improving the company’s digital capabilities over time.
Key Responsibilities
Software Development & Maintenance (Primary Focus)
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize the company’s existing in-house software platform.
- Develop, test, and deploy new software features and enhancements based on company requirements.
- Work with the existing WAMP-based system architecture (Windows, Apache, MySQL, PHP).
- Manage and maintain backend databases using MySQL and PHPMyAdmin.
- Improve system performance, reliability, security, and user experience for internal teams as well as clients
- Identify bugs, implement fixes, and ensure continuous software availability.
- Maintain proper documentation of software updates, changes, and processes.
IT Infrastructure & Network Management
- Maintain and improve the company’s IT infrastructure, including computers, servers, and connected devices.
- Ensure reliable connectivity between all company network devices.
- Manage network security, access controls, backups, shared folders and system protection measures.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network-related issues.
- Recommend improvements to strengthen IT security and operational efficiency.
Staff Training & IT Support
- Train employees on effective usage of the company’s software system.
- Provide technical support and guidance to staff.
- Develop user guides and documentation where required.
- Promote IT best practices, cybersecurity awareness, and efficient use of technology.
Digital & Technology Initiatives
- Support the company’s digital transformation initiatives.
- Assist with digital marketing activities over time, including website updates, online platforms, and other technology-driven marketing initiatives.
- Recommend technology solutions that improve business operations.
