Background

Trade Zone Limited is currently looking to hire an experienced IT Specialist to be based in Lusaka.

As an IT specialist, you will manage system upgrades, resolve user queries, and optimize our technology infrastructure to align with business goals. The ideal candidate will oversee the organization’s IT infrastructure, troubleshoot issues, and provide technical expertise to ensure all operations run smoothly. As an integral part of our team, you will drive efficiency and innovation while safeguarding our digital assets.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Installing, configuring, and maintaining hardware, software, and network administration systems.
  • Troubleshooting IT issues, resolving system outages, and providing technical support.
  • Monitoring system performance and ensuring optimal uptime for all IT resources.
  • Managing IT security protocols to protect systems from potential threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Assisting with data backups, disaster recovery planning, and implementation.
  • Managing inventory for IT equipment and recommending necessary upgrades or replacements.
  • Documenting IT policies, procedures, and troubleshooting guides for internal use.
  • Conducting periodic system analysis and audits to ensure compliance with organizational IT standards.
  • Collaborating with other departments to understand technology requirements and integrate new technologies.
  • Monitor network traffic to identify and resolve connectivity issues.
  • Configure servers, printers, and peripheral devices for company use.
  • Perform routine maintenance and manage resources to optimize speed and reduce costs while maintaining efficiency.
  • Coordinate with vendors for system purchases, warranties, or external support services.
  • Respond to technical support tickets from employees or departments facing technical difficulties.
  • Set up new user accounts, email configurations, and devices for team members.

Requirements and skills

  • Grade 12 with five (5) “O” Levels.
  • Diploma/Degree in IT, Computer Science or related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of demonstrable experience as an IT specialist or in technical support, system analysis, network administration, or a related role.
  • Proficiency in operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS) and network technologies.
  • Knowledge of network administration protocols, firewalls, and IT security best practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for hardware and software issues.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Mature and sober character, prepared to work with minimum supervision.
