Komboni Radio is looking for a passionate and motivated Journalist Intern to join our News Department. This is an opportunity for an aspiring journalist to gain practical newsroom experience while working with one of Zambia's leading commercial radio stations. Our news team is committed to telling stories that matter, giving a voice to communities, and delivering accurate, timely, and engaging news across our broadcast platforms.
Responsibilities or duties
What you will do
- Research and develop news stories.
- Attend press briefings, community events, and assignments.
- Conduct interviews with members of the public and key stakeholders.
- Write news scripts for radio bulletins and online platforms.
- Record audio clips and gather material from the field.
- Assist in producing news and current affairs programmes.
- Verify facts and ensure all content meets professional journalism standards.
- Work closely with editors, presenters, and producers to meet newsroom deadlines.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Journalism, Media Studies, Mass Communication, or a related field.
- Recent graduates and students seeking internship placement are encouraged to apply.
- Strong written and spoken English.
- Knowledge of local languages will be an added advantage.
- Good research and interviewing skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends when assigned.
- Passion for community journalism and current affairs.
- Basic knowledge of audio recording and editing software is an added advantage.
