Job Purpose
Reports to ERP Manager. The Junior Technical Consultant will support the implementation, configuration, training, and ongoing support of Sage ERP solutions for clients. The role involves working closely with senior consultants to deliver high-quality solutions that meet client business requirements, while ensuring effective system performance and user satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Implementation & System Support
- Assist in the implementation of Sage modules (e.g., Financials, HR, Payroll, Inventory)
- Participate in system configuration, setup, and testing activities
- Provide first-level technical and functional support to clients
- Troubleshoot system issues and escalate complex cases with proper documentation
- Support system go-live activities and provide post-implementation (hypercare) support
- Assist in applying system updates, patches, and minor enhancements in line with change management procedures
- Log, track, and resolve client issues using the support ticketing system
- Ensure timely updates and closure of support tickets in accordance with SLAs
- Maintain clear, professional communication with clients regarding issue status and resolution
- Document issues, root causes, and resolutions for future reference
- Escalate unresolved issues with detailed reproduction steps and supporting evidence
Client Requirements & Training
- Gather and document client business requirements
- Assist in conducting system demonstrations and user training sessions
- Provide post-implementation user support and guidance
- Support clients in adopting best practices for system usage
Documentation & Knowledge Base
- Prepare and maintain user manuals, training guides, and system documentation
- Document system configurations, processes, and client-specific customizations
- Update and maintain internal and client-facing knowledge base articles
- Document recurring issues and standard solutions to improve support efficiency
User Acceptance Testing (UAT) & Data Migration
- Assist in conducting User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with clients
- Validate system functionality against documented business requirements
- Record, track, and report testing results and identified defects
- Support resolution and retesting of identified issues
- Support data migration activities, including data import, validation, and reconciliation
- Assist in maintaining database backups and verifying data integrity
- Ensure accuracy and consistency of data within the ERP system
Reporting & Project Support
- Assist in generating standard and ad-hoc reports for clients
- Support users with report customization and data extraction
- Work closely with senior consultants on project deliverables
- Participate in project meetings and provide task updates
- Assist in preparing project documentation and status reports
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery
Professional Development
- Stay updated with Sage product features, updates, and industry trends
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in: Information Technology, Accounting / Finance, Business Administration.
- Experience in ERP systems or IT support is an added advantage
- Exposure to Sage products (e.g., Sage 300, Sage Evolution) is an added advantage
- Basic understanding of Sage or similar ERP systems
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles (GL, AP, AR, Inventory)
- Basic SQL knowledge (Microsoft SQL Server)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
- Good time management and organizational skills
