Position: Lab Assistant Trainee (Entry-Level)

Contract Type & Duration

This is a trainee position offered on a contract basis, starting with a three (3) month probationary period. Strong performers may be considered for contract extension or longer-term opportunities, depending on performance and project needs.

What You Will Learn & Do

• Learn how to prepare laboratory tools, materials, and reagents
• Assist with basic soil testing and sample analysis
• Handle soil samples, including receiving, labeling, storing, and dispatching
• Record test results and maintain laboratory records accurately
• Perform basic laboratory tasks such as weighing, mixing, and sample preparation
• Follow laboratory safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized workspace
• Support other laboratory tasks as assigned by supervisors

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

• Graduate Diploma in Laboratory Technology, Agricultural Sciences, Soil Science, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• No work experience required (basic knowledge of soil testing or laboratory procedures is an advantage).
• Based in Livingstone or willing to relocate.

Essential Skills & Requirements

• Willingness to learn and follow instructions
• Android smartphone and basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, email)
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
• Good communication skills and a positive team attitude

Working Conditions

• Primarily indoor laboratory work
• Hands-on tasks involving soil samples and laboratory equipment
