Job Purpose
The Legal Advisers will provide legal and regulatory support to the company’s operations, projects, and management. The successful candidates will be responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable laws, managing legal risks, and supporting contractual and corporate matters.
1 Key Responsibilities
- Review, draft, and provide legal opinions on contracts and other legal documents accurately and in a timely manner.
- Liaise and coordinate with external law firms, regulatory authorities, and relevant stakeholders on legal matters.
- Provide legal support and advice to various departments on operational and commercial issues.
- Interpret and advise on applicable laws, regulations, rulings, and compliance requirements affecting the company’s business operations.
- Monitor updates in legislation and legal developments, particularly those related to construction, labour, corporate, and commercial law.
- Support the company in strengthening legal compliance, contract management, and risk prevention mechanisms.
- Assist in preparing legal reports, maintaining legal records, and ensuring proper filing of legal documents.
2. Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized university.
- At least 1 year of relevant working experience, preferably in the construction or engineering industry.
- Familiar with Zambian civil law, company law, labour law, and other applicable legislation.
- Good understanding of standard construction contract conditions, particularly FIDIC contracts.
- Strong legal drafting, contract review, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational, planning, and time management abilities with attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and legal document management.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks effectively.
