Background
The Legal and Compliance Supervisor will manage the risk of the company and associated companies within Zambia through effective support to the Managing Director and other Managers / Business Heads concerning contract negotiations, claims management and mitigation of risks through appropriate insurance cover, where possible and ensure implementation of and compliance with all compliance policies and procedures of the Group.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES;
Legal Advisory: Provide legal advice and guidance to management and various department on a wide range of issues including contracts, corporate governance and commercial transactions;
Contract Management: Review draft and negotiate contracts and agreements (e.g, supplier agreements, customer contracts, NDAs etc), ensuring they are legally sound and aligned with company policies;
Compliance and Risk Managemnet: Monitor changes in laws and regulations relevant to the company, ensuring the company remins in compliance. Identify potential legal risks and propose mitigation strategies;
Dispute Resolutions: Assist in the resolutions of disputes, including the management of litigation and settlement negotiations. Coordinate with the external legal counsel as needed;
Corporate Governance: Assist in ensuring compliance with corporate governance laws and best practices, including maintaining corporate records, filings and corporate policies;
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) or equivalent or masters in Law and admitted to the bar (ZIALE);
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in a corporate legal department or law firm, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role;
- Experience in contract law, corporate governance, compliance, dipute resolutions
