About Unifi

Boldly different. Fiercely human. Proudly African.

Unifi is redefining credit in Africa with simple, fast personal loans delivered through online, mobile and branch channels. We make life easy for our clients across Zambia, Kenya, Uganda, South Africa and Tanzania. Unifi has conviction in the African continent and its people, and our products enable our clients to achieve even more. As one of the fastest-growing lenders in Africa, we combine exceptional client service with the very best tech and data analytics.

Purpose of the role

The Loan Consultant reports to the Branch Manager. You are the face of Unifi, the first person our clients meet and the reason they come back. This isn’t just about processing loans. It’s about making life easy, building trust, and treating every client with dignity from the moment they walk through our doors. You drive targets, and make every interaction a chance to win.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome every client warmly and guide them confidently through the loan process in a way that is simple and easy to understand.
  • Explain our products clearly and honestly so clients know exactly what they are signing up for.
  • Capture client details accurately and make sure documentation is complete and correct.
  • Handle cash, client information and records responsibly, accurately and with integrity.
  • Take ownership of branch targets and bring a “let’s get it done” energy to every day.
  • Support collections by following up with clients respectfully, understanding their situation and helping find practical repayment solutions.
  • Work as one team to keep the branch clean, organised and operating to the Unifi standard.
  • Bring positive energy and play your part in creating a branch that is both a great place to work and a high-performing one.
  • Protect every client’s personal information and treat it with confidentiality, care and dignity.
  • Lend responsibly by following Unifi’s lending processes and controls, staying alert to fraud and never taking shortcuts.
  • Get out into the community and help more people discover and understand Unifi’s products and services.
  • Speak up when something isn’t working, bring practical solutions and share feedback that helps us get better.
  • Live the Unifi values in every interaction: treat people with dignity, communicate clearly, take ownership and do what you say you will do.

Requirements

  • A certificate, diploma, or degree in Banking & Finance, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related commercial field is advantageous
  • At least 1 year of experience in a customer-facing, sales or retail environment
  • Comfortable with basic financial and credit concepts
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills in English
  • A client-first mindset. You help people with care, urgency, and dignity
  • Calm, patient, and practical when things get busy with a "let's get it done" attitude
  • Target-driven and hungry to grow. You hold yourself to a higher standard
  • Self-organised, reliable, and able to manage your own workload
  • Comfortable following set processes and systems accurately
