Career Opportunity: Loan Officer – Kitwe Branch
Kalene Lending and Investment Ltd is expanding! We are excited to announce the opening of our new branch in Kitwe, Copperbelt Province. We are looking for a dynamic, results-oriented Loan Officer to join our team and play a pivotal role in driving our microfinance operations in the region.
Job Purpose
The Loan Officer is responsible for managing the loan portfolio and ensuring seamless operations regarding loan processing, disbursement, and collections. This role provides critical oversight to the Sales and Collections Clerk, ensuring our Kitwe operations align with organizational goals and Zambian regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Loan Portfolio Management
- Conduct thorough credit evaluations and risk assessments on loan applications.
- Ensure full compliance with company policies and industry regulatory requirements.
- Monitor portfolio performance, focusing on disbursals, repayments, and the management of delinquencies.
2. Client Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with Kitwe’s diverse client base.
- Provide tailored loan solutions and address inquiries or concerns with high professionalism.
3. Team Supervision & Support
- Supervise the Sales and Collections Clerk, providing the guidance needed to meet sales targets and collection efficiency.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance team environment.
4. Reporting & Compliance
- Prepare regular, accurate reports on portfolio performance and delinquency rates.
- Maintain meticulous records of loan applications, contracts, and client interactions.
- Stay updated on industry trends and microfinance regulations.
5. Business Development
- Identify local market opportunities for product growth and expansion.
- Collaborate with senior management on initiatives to improve operational efficiency.
Reporting Structure
Superior: Reports to the Operations Manager.
Subordinates: Supervises the Sales and Collections Clerk.
Internal/External: Interfaces with various internal departments, regulatory bodies, and a growing portfolio of clients.
Required Knowledge and Skills
Education: Minimum of a Diploma in a relevant field (Finance, Banking, Business Administration, etc.).
Experience: Proven experience in financial services; specific experience in microfinance is highly preferred.
Analytical Skills: Strong ability to assess creditworthiness and manage financial risk.
Communication: Excellent negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Technical: Proficiency in MS Office; familiarity with loan management software is a distinct advantage.
