One Acre Fund is seeking a highly organized and proactive Logistics and Warehouse Specialist to join our team in Kabwe, Central Zambia. This critical role ensures that all inputs are delivered accurately, efficiently, and on time to our stakeholders by expertly managing inventory, warehouse operations, and distribution logistics.
Responsibilities or duties
As the Logistics and Warehouse Specialist, you will oversee the full spectrum of logistics activities, driving operational excellence and continuous improvement. Your main duties will include:
- Inventory & Warehouse Management: Manage inventory storage and handling across all warehouse locations, ensuring warehouses are well-equipped, organized, and operating efficiently. Maintain accurate inventory records and perform timely monthly reconciliations. Monitor key performance indicators such as shrinkage, variance, and reporting timelines.
- Delivery Planning & Execution: Plan and coordinate distribution from initial modelling through to last-mile delivery. Develop and enforce delivery schedules, track delivery KPIs, especially during peak periods, and collaborate closely with internal teams and field stakeholders.
- Transport Coordination: Create daily and weekly transport plans based on demand and capacity. Manage relationships with third-party transport providers and serve as the primary contact for all delivery coordination. Optimize delivery routes using GPS and other tools to maximize efficiency.
- Team Leadership & Development: Guide and support the logistics team to operate efficiently and compliantly. Build team capacity through coaching, training, and performance management. Assist with hiring and succession planning to ensure operational continuity.
- Strategy & Continuous Improvement: Contribute to annual planning, budgeting, and goal setting. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and promote operational excellence.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
Candidates applying for this role should meet the following requirements:
- At least 4 years of experience in supply chain, operations, logistics, or procurement.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Procurement, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field.
- Strong planning and project management skills with a data-driven approach and keen attention to detail.
- Ability to anticipate challenges and proactively develop solutions.
- Excellent collaboration and stakeholder management abilities.
- Proven leadership skills with experience coaching and developing teams.
