Circus Zambia is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Officer to strengthen our monitoring, evaluation and learning systems across the organisation.

The M&E Officer’s primary responsibility is to ensure that the impact of Circus Zambia’s programmes is effectively monitored, measured and communicated to support learning, accountability and organisational growth. The successful candidate will work closely with the Programs Manager, Business Manager and project teams to ensure that data informs decision-making and demonstrates the difference Circus Zambia is making in the lives of young people and communities.

Key Responsibilities

Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning for Social Programs

  • Develop and implement comprehensive Monitoring & Evaluation systems for projects, including logical frameworks (logframes) and M&E plans where required.
  • Work closely with Project Managers to monitor project outputs, outcomes, deliverables and performance indicators.
  • Design and manage data collection tools including surveys, interviews, focus group discussions, observations and pre/post assessments.
  • Develop innovative and efficient digital systems for data collection, storage and management.
  • Analyse quantitative and qualitative data using appropriate statistical methods and software.
  • Produce high-quality monitoring reports and impact reports for project teams and donors.
  • Attend project activities where necessary to monitor implementation and ensure quality data collection.
  • Coordinate with project teams to ensure accurate, timely and consistent monitoring processes.

Client Experience and Business Performance Monitoring

  • Collect client feedback following performances, workshops, camps and other activities.
  • Analyse customer satisfaction and prepare event-specific and quarterly reports.
  • Compare event performance across similar activities to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Monitor business indicators including repeat clients, cancellations, booking trends and client satisfaction.
  • Maintain a central database of client information, bookings, feedback and performance metrics.
  • Collect testimonials and client success stories for reporting and promotional purposes.
  • Explore opportunities to automate feedback collection and reporting systems.
  • Provide strategic recommendations based on data analysis to improve client experience and organisational performance.

Monitoring Circus Zambia’s Organisational Impact

  • Maintain and improve Circus Zambia’s participant database.
  • Implement annual organisational impact assessments.
  • Review and strengthen existing monitoring methodologies and tools.
  • Collect and document stories of change and evidence of programme impact.
  • Support organisational learning by presenting findings and recommendations to management and programme teams.

General Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support where required.
  • Attend organisational meetings, trainings and events.
  • Support colleagues across departments during busy periods.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, flexible and innovative organisational culture.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Monitoring & Evaluation, Statistics, Development Studies, Social Sciences or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Monitoring & Evaluation, research, project management or data analysis.
  • Experience developing monitoring frameworks, indicators, logframes and data collection tools.
  • Experience collecting and managing both quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Strong report-writing and analytical skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to data quality.
  • Passion for youth development, creativity and social impact.

Technical Skills

The successful candidate should have experience with:

  • KoboToolbox or similar digital data collection platforms.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for data management, analysis and reporting.
  • SPSS or similar statistical analysis software.
  • At least basic knowledge of SQL for querying and managing databases.
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint and Outlook).
