Responsibilities or duties
- Setting up and operating machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, and grinders to produce precision parts .
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine the exact dimensions and sequence of operations required .
- Using precision measuring instruments, like micrometers and vernier calipers, to ensure parts conform to exact tolerances .
- Grinding or cutting various materials (metal, plastic) to create or repair mechanical components .
- Performing routine maintenance on machine tools to keep them in proper operational condition .
- Inspecting completed parts to maintain strict quality control standards .
- Monitoring the feed and speed of machines during the machining process .
