Breath of Heaven Children’s Ministries (BOHCM) is a registered NGO dedicated to helping meet the needs of orphans in Zambia. Located in Barlastone Park, Lusaka, the Ministry currently incorporates a Children’s Village, Primary/Technical Secondary School, a Vocational Training College, a Medical Clinic and Community Church.

We are looking for skilled Maintenance and Grounds Officer to oversee the operations of our children’s village.

Responsibilities or duties

Clean and sanitize offices, toilets, common areas, kitchens, hallways, and other assigned indoor spaces.

Maintain outdoor areas, including lawns, gardens, walkways, drains, and surrounding compound spaces.

Carry out routine landscaping tasks such as mowing, weeding, watering, pruning, sweeping, and removing litter.

Perform minor repairs and basic maintenance tasks, including changing bulbs, fixing taps, tightening fittings, painting touch-ups, and reporting faults.

Inspect facilities regularly to identify cleanliness issues, safety hazards, and maintenance needs.

Ensure cleaning materials, tools, and maintenance supplies are properly used, stored, and accounted for.

Support waste management, sanitation, and hygiene standards across the institution.

Assist with setup, movement of furniture, and general operational support when required.

Report major repairs, damage, and safety concerns promptly to management.

Promote a safe and child-friendly environment at all times.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

Grade 12 certificate or equivalent.

Proven experience in cleaning, groundskeeping, or general maintenance.

Basic knowledge of maintenance tools, cleaning equipment, and landscaping practices.

Ability to carry out minor repairs and follow safety procedures.

Physically fit and able to work indoors and outdoors.

Good communication skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.

A valid driver’s license would be an added advantage.

A trade certificate from TEVET/TEVETA or a recognised vocational training institution is an added advantage and will be highly considered
