Background

The Maintenance Engineer shall carry out design, commissioning and maintenance of electrical equipment in the company in order to improve service delivery to our customers. The job holder will report to the Senior Engineer – Solar Operations.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide engineering input in the development and implementation of maintenance programs and procedures to ensure the electrical installations and other associated equipment are properly maintained and repaired.
  • Provide engineering input in equipment modifications and redesigning to adapt them to new operating requirements.
  • Maintain surveillance over the power network and auxiliary equipment to determine their health status and initiate condition-based maintenance when the need arises.
  • Provide engineering expertise in the installation and commissioning of new equipment as and when required.
  • Review work procedures, key tools and equipment to improve the efficiency of maintenance teams, i.e., procurement and utilisation of test instruments and emergency spares inventory.
  • Generate, within agreed timeframes, sound technical reports on engineering assignments undertaken.
  • Provide technical support to special projects and ad hoc assignments as and when required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Member of Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
  • Minimum of three (03) years’ experience in power utility or mining environment.
  • Good presentation skills using constructive and logical approaches.
  • Sound technical acumen with ability to anticipate and interpret changes in equipment design and functionality.
  • Specialised training in Maintenance.
