Marketing & Communications Lead (SAC)
Job Purpose:
- Drives sustainable business growth by embedding a customer-centric, insight-led Marketing and Communications strategy that enhances brand equity, strengthens customer loyalty, and delivers a differentiated end-to-end customer experience across Southern Africa Markets
- Drive demand-led marketing by enabling the development, implementation, and management of integrated marketing and communications programs across Southern Africa, fully aligned to business strategy and Go-to-Market (GtM) priorities.
- Translate customer and market insights into tangible business outcomes through consistent brand delivery, strong launch execution, and rigorous performance tracking against defined business and growth targets.
Responsibilities or duties
Customer Experience Strategy & Execution
- Accountable for designing and embedding an end-to-end customer experience strategy, with campaign frameworks that reflect customer segmentation, seasonality, crop cycles, and channel across all touchpoints
- Translates customer insights and behavioral data into actionable initiatives that improve customer Acquisition, satisfaction, retention, and lifetime value.
- Implement and execute consistent, seamless and differentiated farmer- and channel-focused demand-generation campaigns
Enhance Value Proposition & Communication
- Refine core messaging, USPs, and value propositions, for effective communication
- Ensure communications clearly articulate customer value (benefit-led, practical, locally relevant) and support commercial conversion.
Integrated Marketing & Brand Leadership
- Drive the development and execution of integrated marketing, branding, and campaign strategies to drive demand generation and business growth.
- Accountable for brand governance, ensuring full compliance with Bayer Brand guidelines, corporate identity and communication standards across all markets.
- Conduct regular brand audits and drive continuous improvement in brand execution quality.
Loyalty, Engagement & Experiences
- Own the design and delivery of a scalable, data-driven loyalty strategy to strengthen customer engagement and long-term relationships.
- Drives segmentation and personalization strategies to enhance relevance and effectiveness of customer interactions.
Stakeholder & Ecosystem Leadership
- Leads cross-functional collaboration with regional and local stakeholders (CFS, Commercial, AgEx) to ensure aligned execution.
- Manages external partners (agencies, technology providers, vendors) to deliver high-quality campaign execution, loyalty solutions, and content.
Performance Measurement, Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Ensures all marketing, communication, and customer-facing activities comply with Bayer policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
- Establishes governance frameworks to ensure consistency, quality, and scalability across markets.
- Track campaign effectiveness using clear KPIs (Customer satisfaction & Net Promoter Score (NPS) , Customer retention and loyalty metrics , Campaign ROI and demand generation outcomes , Brand compliance and consistency scores , Digital engagement and conversion metrics , Budget adherence and marketing efficiency)
- Implement a continuous improvement approach: test, learn, optimize, and apply learnings across markets and seasons.
Cross-Functional Leadership & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Collaborate with GTM, Partnerships, Commercial Operations, Sales, Agronomy, Regulatory, CFS, and other stakeholders to deliver integrated plans.
- Ensure campaigns, product launches, and events are coordinated, compliant, and executed to deadline.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, marketing, brand management, business administration or related fields.
- Minimum 7 year’ experience in marketing communication /Sales
- Experience in tactical and strategic marketing, including digital marketing campaigns and Multi-channel Activations
- Agriculture background preferred; experience in seed, crop protection, and/or biotechnology is an advantage.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills. Fluent in English, oral and written, is required
- Proven ability to influence effectively in a matrix organization and works well in teams.
- People leadership experience with ability to build and sustain a high-performance team.
