INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES - MINING ENGINEER

Lumwana Mining Company is offering internship program to highly motivated and committed persons to join the versatile mining team and to gain industrial experience in Mining Engineering We are in search of individuals who can champion Barrick's DNA by:

Reporting to the Senior Production Engineer, the Interns will undergo Intensive training to equip them with knowledge to perform basic drill & blast functions while gaining practical experience in the open cut mines in mining department.

Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:

The Intern growth plan may include coaching in design, plan, monitor and report on all Drill & Blast activities to ensure productive and efficient mining operations

Undertake Drill and Blast related project studies and investigations, monitoring, wall control blasting trials, initiation designs, mine to mill analysis, and other related projects.

Be able to verify, analyse, and report blast performance data.

Assist in ensuring that holes are drilled to planned depth, location and inclination desired blast results.

Utilise established systems to update production data associated with drilling and blasting activities.

Provide support to undertake Drill and Blast related project studies and investigations

Provide support to carry out and report QA/QC on the Drill and Blast Process

Developing a good understanding of initiation designs and ensure they are executed to standard

Proactive attitude to ensuring the drill and blast QAQC to achieve the daily, weekly and monthly production targets.

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Must have a Full Grade 12 School Certificate.
  • Minimum Degree in Mining Engineering or relevant field
  • Having worked for an explosives company will be added advantage
  • Drive to learn and develop your skills and experience as a Mining Engineer
  • Be physically fit and be able to pass a pre-employment medical examination.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent computer skills and should be willing to learn.
