PG Meats Ltd is a growing Zambian-owned meat processing and retail company specializing in quality beef, pork, goat, poultry, and value-added meat products. We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Operations Manager to lead our manufacturing plant and drive operational excellence.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the meat processing plant, ensuring efficient production, high-quality standards, food safety compliance, cost control, and continuous improvement across all operational areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage daily meat processing plant operations to achieve production targets.
- Ensure efficient processing, cutting, deboning, portioning, and value-added product manufacturing.
- Improve production yields, reduce wastage, and optimize resource utilization.
- Implement and maintain strong operational systems, SOPs, and performance controls.
- Ensure compliance with HACCP, food safety, hygiene, and quality standards.
- Manage production planning, inventory control, cold chain management, and dispatch coordination.
- Lead, coach, and develop production teams to achieve high performance.
- Work closely with Procurement, Sales, Finance, and Quality teams to improve business performance.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and profitability.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Degree/Diploma in Food Science, Meat Science, Production Management, Operations Management, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience managing operations within a meat processing or food manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience running a commercial meat processing plant with strong understanding of:
- Meat cutting and processing operations
- Yield management and cost control
- Food safety systems (HACCP/GMP)
- Production planning and inventory management
- Quality assurance and operational efficiency
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to build accountable and high-performing teams.
