About NCA:

Since 2011, Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) and DanChurchAid (DCA) in Zambia have been working together to implement a socio-economic justice programme that aims to empower rights-holders, especially women and youth through a Joint Country Programme. Through strong networks and alliances within Zambian civil society, we uphold and protect people’s dignity and promote their active participation in the development of Zambia. The JCP Zambia is a fully merged country programme where funding, technical advice, lobbying & advocacy, communication, administration is shared and coordinated, with NCA as the lead agency. In the 2025-2029 country strategy, NCA and DCA will focus their interventions to save lives, build resilience of local communities and seek justice. We envision an inclusive, resilient and just Zambia. Whilst the Climate and Environmental Stewardship (CES) programme is a new thematic priority for NCA globally, it will build on several years of experience by NCA-DCA in Zambia of working on CES in protected and vulnerable landscapes in the Lower Zambezi.

About the position

Are you passionate about climate resilience, environmental restoration, and working directly with communities to create lasting change? We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic graduate or final-year student who is eager to gain hands-on experience in Nature-based Solutions, watershed restoration, agroforestry, and community-led natural resource management. This is an exciting opportunity to learn, contribute, and grow while supporting transformative climate adaptation initiatives in rural Zambia.

The Project Intern will support the implementation of the RECHARGE Project by assisting with community mobilization, data collection, documentation, reporting, and administrative coordination. Working closely with NCA, NOCAD, community stakeholders, and project partners, the intern will gain practical experience in climate resilience programming, environmental restoration, monitoring, and community engagement activities.

• Support engagement of communities and stakeholders in project activities and training.
• Assist with monitoring activities, data collection, reporting, and documentation of project results.
• Coordinate meeting arrangements, maintain project records, and support project administration.
• Contribute to project learning, visibility, knowledge sharing, and other implementation activities as assigned.
• Support community mobilization for meetings, training, surveys, and project activities, assist project staff during field visits, stakeholder engagements, and environmental restoration activities and provide logistical support during community events and field operations.
• Collect project data using digital tools such as KoboCollect, mWater, or other monitoring systems.
• Maintain accurate activity records and field documentation.
• Take photographs and collect evidence of project activities and outcomes.
• Assist in preparing field visit reports, activity reports, and stakeholder engagement summaries.
• Support documentation of success stories, lessons learned, and best practices.
• Assist with organizing meetings, workshops, trainings, and travel logistics.
• Maintain project files, attendance registers, and documentation systems.
• Support record keeping and updating of project monitoring databases.
• Participate actively in project meetings, training, and learning events.
• Support communication and visibility activities for the project.
• Carry out any other duties reasonably assigned by the supervisor in support of project implementation.

• Basic skills in data collection, documentation, reporting, and use of Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability and willingness to work in rural communities and travel frequently to project sites.
• Demonstrates genuine knowledge in climate resilience, forestry, environmental stewardship, and improving community livelihoods.
• Able to engage respectfully and effectively with communities, partners, and colleagues.

• Bachelor's Degree (completed or final year) in a relevant environmental, agricultural, natural resources, forestry, water, or climate-related field. Master’s degree is preferable
• Demonstrated experience in environmental conservation, climate resilience, community development, or natural resource management. Bachelor’s degree with experience in relevant fields of up to 3 yrs will be considered equivalent to Master’s
