Background
ZVEC is a vocational training and enterprise organisation in New Kasama, Lusaka. We invite qualified, experienced professionals to join our roster of part-time lecturers and instructors, supporting learners to develop practical skills for employment, entrepreneurship and professional practice. Teaching assignments will be scheduled according to course requirements and learner demand.
Responsibilities
Prepare lesson plans and teaching materials; deliver theory and supervised practical sessions; evaluate learner progress within authorised assessment arrangements; maintain attendance and training records; protect learner safety; care for equipment; and support quality assurance and regulatory inspections. Detailed role descriptions follow in this pack.
Qualifications and Experience
Current, verifiable TEVETA trainer accreditation covering the relevant subject and intended training level. Applicants must state their accreditation number, approved scope and expiry date and attach supporting evidence. An application receipt alone is insufficient.
A recognised technical or vocational qualification relevant to the position and appropriate to the training level, together with teaching methodology qualifications meeting applicable TEVETA requirements.
At least three years of relevant practical industry experience as ZVEC's recruitment minimum; any higher experience requirement for the relevant TEVETA accreditation level must also be met.
Ability to plan lessons, demonstrate practical tasks, support learners and maintain reliable training and assessment records.
Availability for agreed teaching schedules, including evenings or weekends where required and agreed in advance.
Driving instructor applicants must additionally hold a current RTSA driving instructor's licence, a valid driver's licence covering the vehicle classes to be taught and evidence of defensive driving and first aid competence.
Appointment Detail
Deliver integrated automotive training that equips learners to repair vehicle body damage, prepare and finish surfaces, and diagnose and repair vehicle electrical systems safely.
Main Responsibilities
- Demonstrate body damage assessment, panel removal and replacement, dent repair, panel alignment, metal finishing and appropriate welding techniques.
- Teach surface preparation, filler application, masking, priming, paint mixing, colour matching, spray equipment setup, coating application and finish correction.
- Teach electrical safety, wiring diagrams, multimeter use, batteries, charging and starting systems, lighting, fuses, relays and systematic fault diagnosis.
- Plan supervised workshop exercises with task checklists, tool requirements and measurable competency outcomes in each trade.
- Enforce ventilation, respirator and PPE requirements, safe battery handling, fire prevention and responsible paint, solvent and waste management.
- Maintain tools, workshop inventories and practical records; report unsafe equipment and restrict advanced tasks to available facilities and proven competence.
Qualifications and Experience
Relevant recognised qualifications in automotive body repair and refinishing and auto electrical, or a recognised qualification with documented training covering all three disciplines. Current TEVETA trainer accreditation must authorise the proposed teaching scope and level. Evidence of work in all three disciplines is essential; strength in one area alone does not qualify an applicant for this combined role.
Hold teaching methodology qualifications appropriate to TEVETA requirements. ZVEC requires a minimum of three years of relevant industry experience; meet any higher accreditation requirement applicable to the course level. Previous vocational teaching experience is desirable. Demonstrate clear communication, dependable attendance and the ability to support learners with different needs.
Professional Standards
Maintain lesson plans, attendance and learner progress records; provide feedback; follow safeguarding and confidentiality procedures; support quality assurance; and keep credentials valid. Formal regulated assessments or examinations require separate authorisation and the relevant assessor or examiner accreditation.
Applicants must include current TEVETA trainer accreditation evidence showing the approved subject, training level, accreditation number and validity. Automotive applicants must demonstrate competence across all three advertised trades. Driving instructor applicants must additionally provide current RTSA instructor licensing, the relevant driver's licence and evidence of defensive driving and first aid competence. State your available teaching days and hours and earliest start date. For part-time work, clarify the basis of your net salary expectation, such as per month for stated hours, per hour or per teaching day.
