Job purpose
To effectively and profitably manage the purchasing, transportation and stores function of Camps
To identify, select, purchase and expedite the delivery of quality products within the standard timeframe and specifications
Key performance areas:
The Procurement Officer is responsible for the following:
- Developing and maintaining sources of supply and selecting suppliers
- Developing an effective and accurate system of monitoring purchase orders
- Working with Camp Managers to ensure that all deliveries satisfy assigned orders
- Assisting Camp Managers to maintain appropriate inventory and materials on a regular basis
- Negotiate contracts and pricing with suppliers
- Develop and monitor cost-reduction strategies
- Ensure adherence with company and group purchasing policies
- Develop and implement IT policy within the procurement department
- Monitor supplier performance
- Understand, analyze, and evaluate enterprise-wide procurement requirements for products and services
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
- Diploma in Purchasing and Supply or equivalent, bachelor’s degree added advantage
- Report writing and record keeping
- Strong interpersonal skills to work with operations, finance and suppliers
- Good attention to detail with ability to plan, organize and prioritize
- Good administrative principles and regulations preferred
- Strong communications skills and ability to negotiate effectively.
- Proven problem-solving
- Excellent written and verbal English ability
- Ability to deal appropriately with sensitive issues and maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times.
- Demonstrated ability to manage time and perform to strict deadlines
- Must be flexible with a positive attitude
