Background
PG Meats Ltd is a growing Zambian-owned meat processing and retail company producing quality beef, pork, goat, poultry, and value-added meat products. We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Production Manager to oversee and strengthen our production operations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the daily production activities of the meat processing plant, ensuring efficient production processes, consistent product quality, optimal yields, and compliance with food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise daily production activities to achieve production targets and customer requirements.
- Plan and coordinate production schedules based on sales demand and available resources.
- Oversee meat processing activities including cutting, deboning, portioning, trimming, mincing, sausage production, and value-added products.
- Ensure consistent product quality, specifications, portion control, and presentation.
- Improve production efficiency through better processes, workflow management, and resource utilization.
- Monitor production yields, reduce wastage, and improve raw material utilization.
- Ensure strict adherence to food safety, hygiene, HACCP, GMP, and quality standards.
- Manage production teams, allocate duties, and promote discipline and productivity.
- Maintain accurate production records, reports, and performance monitoring systems.
- Work closely with Operations, Quality Assurance, Procurement, and Dispatch teams to ensure smooth production flow.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma/Degree in Food Science, Meat Science, Production Management, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a meat processing or food manufacturing production environment.
- Strong practical knowledge of meat processing operations, including:
- Carcass processing and deboning
- Meat cutting and portioning
- Sausage and processed meat production
- Production planning and scheduling
- Yield improvement and waste reduction
- Food safety and quality control systems
- Proven ability to lead production teams and deliver consistent production results.
