Position Summary
We are seeking a results-driven Professional Accountant to oversee financial management, accounting operations, and financial reporting for our growing security business. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical accounting skills with practical business insight, ensuring compliance with Zambian financial regulations and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day accounting functions (accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, reconciliations, payroll, bank reconciliations).
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS for SMEs and local statutory requirements.
- Ensure accuracy of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Oversee payroll processing, tax compliance (PAYE, NHT, VAT where applicable), and statutory submissions.
- Maintain internal controls, safeguarding company assets and preventing fraud.
- -Assist with budgeting, cost control, and profitability analysis by contract/job and client.
- -Monitor cash flow, working capital, and debt management.
- -Coordinate external audits and statutory audits; prepare audit schedules and respond to auditor inquiries.
- -Prepare management reports for senior leadership and board presentations.
- -Ensure compliance with Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) and other regulatory requirements, including statutory filings.
- -Support treasury activities, vendor negotiations, and procurement governance as needed.
- -Support tax planning and optimization within legal frameworks.
- -Assist with ERP/Accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Pastel/Sage, or SAP) implementation and optimization where relevant.
- -Maintain up-to-date knowledge of financial regulations affecting security services (e.g., licensing, contract law basics as they relate to financial reporting).
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional qualification (ACCA, CIMA, or ZICA) preferred.
- At least 5 years of accounting experience, with preferably 3 years in a similar industry (security, facilities management, or professional services).
- Strong knowledge of IFRS for SMEs and Zambian tax laws, including PAYE, VAT, NAPSA/NHIS, and pension schemes.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Pastel/Sage, QuickBooks, SAP) and MS Office (Excel advanced).
- Experience with payroll processing and statutory submissions in Zambia.
- Understanding of contract accounting, job/costing, and client profitability reporting.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail, integrity, and confidentiality.
