Job Summary

The Project Architect will be engaged on a short-term, deliverables-based basis and may be contracted either as an individual consultant or as an independent architectural professional. The primary focus of the assignment is the timely and satisfactory delivery of agreed design outputs, rather than long-term employment or fixed working hours.

The Project Architect will be responsible for the architectural design and technical oversight of infrastructure developed under Petrushka Trading Limited’s waste aggregation and collection project. This will include the conceptualization and detailed design of a waste aggregation factory and ten (10) Waste Collection Centres, ensuring that facilities support efficient waste sorting, aggregation, storage, and onward processing, while meeting environmental compliance standards and operational efficiency requirements.

The role will ensure that all infrastructure designs are aligned with operational workflows, SME aggregation needs, and projected growth in household customer volumes. The engagement is open to qualified Consultants or Architects who can be contracted on a short-term or part-time basis, with remuneration and timelines linked to the successful completion of defined project design deliverables.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Design and Planning

  • Develop conceptual and detailed architectural designs for the waste aggregation factory, including processing, sorting, storage, and support facilities.
  • Design standardized and site-specific layouts for 10 Waste Collection Centres, ensuring functionality, safety, and accessibility.
  • Integrate sustainable and environmentally responsible design principles, including efficient material use and energy considerations.
  • Incorporate design features that facilitate household engagement, waste drop-off, and training activities where relevant.

Technical Coordination and Compliance

  • Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and project teams to align designs with technical, operational, and budgetary requirements.
  • Conduct site assessments and contribute to construction schedules and cost estimates.
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, environmental regulations, and occupational health and safety standards.
  • Support permitting and regulatory approval processes.

Construction Support and Oversight

  • Provide architectural oversight during construction, including site visits and design clarifications.
  • Review construction progress and address design-related issues.
  • Prepare design reports and presentations for management and external stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Masters degree in Architecture; professional registration/licensure required.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in architectural design for industrial, environmental, or infrastructure facilities.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, or similar design software.
  • Experience with waste management, recycling, or industrial facilities is a strong advantage.
