Job Summary:

The PMU finance Coordinator will manage the delivery of all CHOICE Project financial management activities and requirements as they relate specifically to Oxfam’s relationship with Oxfam Canada, SAF Country Teams and partner organisations in Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & COMPETENCIES

Essential

• A master’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field, alternatively a bachelor’s degree combined with a professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent) will be considered.
• 4 -6 years of relevant experience in finance and operations, including budgeting, compliance, and financial reporting within development or humanitarian contexts.
• Strong communication, analytical, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to build strong, credible relationships with internal and external individuals and organisations.
• Excellent personal communication skills, in written and verbal English, with strong influencing and persuasive skills.
• A high level of self-awareness, personal energy, stamina and flexibility.
• Proven experience as a team worker and demonstrably cooperative with members of other teams.
• Commitment to Oxfam’s safeguarding policies to ensure all people who come into contact with Oxfam are as safe as possible.
• Good knowledge and experience of managing donor grants and contributions, or donor funded programmes.
• Strong numeracy skills and experience using a computerised financial management information system and good computer skills (Excel especially, Word, etc.).
• A critical focus on providing a superior service level to managers and staff and delivering agreed results within time and budget constraints and to expected standards.
• Good analytical and conceptual thinking skills with a proven proactive approach to identifying and resolving problems and suggesting improvements that continuously seek to provide a better service to Oxfam. Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to represent Oxfam in a professional and competent manner with external individuals and organisations.
• Proven experience working with partner organisations and helping them develop their independent expertise and ability to deliver results, through effective capacity building and learning and development activities.

Desirable

Knowledge or experience of Oxfam’s (or similar organisation’s) program work, including field experience and/or with institutional donors.

Knowledge or appreciation of Southern Africa in terms of its political, economic, and social trends plus a good understanding of the key development and humanitarian issues in the region

Contract Type: Fixed Term, 1 year, renewal subject to availability of funding.
