JOB PURPOSE:

  • Oversee and execute field operations for telecom sites, ensuring high uptime, efficient installation, and adherence to maintenance SLAs.
  • Responsible for delivering optimal performance across all sites through proactive monitoring, rapid fault resolution, and regular reporting.

JOB RESPONSIBILITY:

Site Operations and Maintenance:

  • Conduct site surveys for telecom installations, gathering detailed technical data and providing actionable recommendations.
  • Follow-up with contractor’s team mobilization, equipment transport to sites and complete installation of sites. If required visit remote sites
  • Perform and supervise the installation, testing, and commissioning of telecom sites.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues to ensure compliance with SLAs.
  • Perform regular maintenance to achieve >99% uptime across remote sites and >99.9% uptime for central hubs.
  • Ensure that Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) targets are met with minimal impact on service availability.
  • Follow-up with contractors for site survey and land acquisition to be completed on time.
  • Liaise with contractors and vendors to address complex issues requiring third-party intervention.

Operation and maintenance:

  • Following up with contractors to ensure sites are attended as per preventive maintenance schedule and agreement.
  • Ensure the clients are restoring within SLA for any incident.
  • Manage preventive and incident-based maintenance of remotes sites as well the central site including BSC, RNC and OMC.

Performance and Reporting:

  • Furnish weekly and monthly reports on site performance, including uptime metrics and Root Cause Analysis (RFOs) for downtimes.
  • Maintain detailed records of all faults, resolutions, and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Telecoms and Group Operations Manager to evaluate operational metrics and recommend improvements.

Collaboration and Escalation:

  • Act as the primary contact for site-related operational challenges, escalating unresolved issues beyond two hours to the appropriate teams.
  • Ensure seamless coordination with the Network Operations Center (NOC) to close tickets efficiently.
  • Engage with the logistics team to arrange for timely equipment replacements or deployments.
  • Configure, Manage, and maintain RAN networks in other countries. Including IoT
  • This might require travelling to other countries for IoT.
  • Ensuring that local compliance for regulatory are followed and executed as required.
  • Solar Power Management

Compliance and Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure installations meet industry standards, including proper grounding and documentation.
  • Guarantee minimal downtime within three months post-installation by adhering to best practices.
  • Verify that all activities align with organizational policies and customer requirements.

REQUIREMENTS: SKILLS , KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES :

  • Must be self-driven, motivated, enthusiastic, positive and pleasant individual
  • Must be professional and polite is dealing with peers and customers
  • Must be thorough and methodical in processes to ensure each process is completed fully
  • Must be good at documenting, reporting updates, and writing reports
  • Must have emotional maturity to enable them to work with contractors as well as internal colleagues
  • Must command respect among peers and must be able to ascertain him/herself to get the job done
  • Must be able to formulate intermediate and advanced technical plans (on Visio) for the purpose of making sales proposals
  • Must pay attention to detail to ensure all aspects of procedural compliance is adhered to
  • Must be a team player to ensure that they can work with the various departments who collectively contribute to the overall objectives
  • Have a high degree of comfort with English spoken and written
  • Must be comfortable with basic computer applications

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in telecommunications engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field
  • Experience with network monitoring tools and performance optimization techniques will be a added advantage.
