About Marie Stopes Zambia (MSZ)

We are seeking a dynamic, highly motivated, and qualified individual to join our team as a Provincial Mentor.

Position Summary

The Provincial Mentor will provide mentorship, supportive supervision, and technical assistance to Ministry of Health service providers delivering Comprehensive Abortion Care (CAC) and Family Planning (FP) services. The role focuses on strengthening quality service delivery, data management, commodity security, and provider capacity across assigned health facilities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Service Delivery Support and Mentorship

• Mentor and support MSZ-trained public-sector CAC and FP providers.
• Provide ongoing technical assistance and supportive supervision.
• Develop and maintain client tracking and referral systems.
• Work closely with District CAC Focal Persons and facility management to improve service delivery.
• Support providers in delivering quality, client-centered reproductive health services.
• Prepare and implement monthly work plans and submit activity reports.

2. Data Management and Reporting

• Ensure accurate collection, validation, and submission of service delivery data.
• Support facilities in reporting through HMIS and other required platforms.
• Monitor service performance indicators and identify areas for improvement.
• Maintain accurate documentation and reporting records.

3. Clinical Quality Assurance

• Support implementation of MSI and MoH clinical standards, protocols, and guidelines.
• Conduct regular supportive supervision visits and quality audits.
• Ensure adherence to infection prevention practices and clinical governance standards.
• Promote client safety, confidentiality, informed choice, and rights-based service delivery.
• Facilitate continuous professional development and skills enhancement of service providers.

4. Commodity and Supply Chain Management

• Monitor availability of family planning commodities and CAC supplies.
• Support facilities in maintaining adequate stock levels and preventing stock-outs.
• Conduct routine stock audits and ensure proper use of stock management systems.
• Ensure compliance with MSZ and MoH supply chain management procedures.

5. Stakeholder Engagement and Community Partnerships

• Support health facilities in community mobilization and awareness activities.
• Strengthen collaboration between health facilities, community stakeholders, and government structures.
• Promote positive community attitudes toward reproductive health services.
• Build and maintain productive relationships with partners and key stakeholders.

6. Systems Strengthening

• Support implementation of district and provincial reproductive health initiatives.
• Foster continuous improvement in service delivery systems and operational efficiency.
• Participate in planning and implementation of joint MoH and MSZ activities.

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

• Degree in Nursing, Midwifery, Clinical Medicine, Clinical Science, or a related health discipline.
• Registered with the relevant professional regulatory body.
• Minimum two (2) years' post-qualification experience.
• Experience in Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) programmes.
• Experience in mentoring, coaching, supportive supervision, or clinical training.
• Strong client counseling and interpersonal communication skills.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Knowledge of Zambia's health system and service delivery structures.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Valid driver's licence with at least two (2) years experience with demonstrated ability to drive a manual transmission vehicle.
• Willingness and ability to travel extensively within the assigned province.
