Background
The National Prosecution Authority (NPA) is an autonomous body established by the NPA Act No. 34 of 2010. Its mission is to “provide prosecution services to contribute to a crime free Zambia’. In its quest to improve service delivery, the Authority is hereby inviting applications from suitable candidates to fill the following positions:
PUBLIC PROSECUTOR
Employment type: Permanent and Pensionable
Salary Scale: NPA/06
Reports to: Senior Public Prosecutor
Duty Stations: Various (as indicated in the table below)
Job Purpose:
To prosecute criminal cases in the Magistrate Courts of Zambia in order to bring offenders to justice.
Specific Duties and Requirements:
- Prosecutes effectively criminal cases in order to facilitate the proper dispensation of justice;
- Processes timely dockets in order to expedite the delivery of justice; and
- Guides and directs investigators in the conduct of criminal investigations in order to ensure proper collation of justice.
Qualifications and Work Experience
- Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate or its equivalent;
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree;
- Must be admitted to practice Law at the Zambian bar; and
- Must be a Zambian Citizen.
Skills and Other Attributes
- Excellent oral and written skills for advocacy;
- Integrity;
- Confidentiality;
- Good Interpersonal Skills;
- Tactful and Diplomatic; and
- Self-Confident.
