VACANCY ADVERTISEMENT: RIGGER

Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit highly motivated and committed employees for the position of Rigger to join the versatile Maintenance Team. We are in search of individuals who can champion Barrick's DNA by:

Reporting to the Supervisor - Workshop, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently performing rigging operations, maintaining lifting equipment, and assisting in scaffolding activities as required to meet operational needs and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.

Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Coordinate the activities of the LMC technicians and OEM maintenance teams at Lumwana
  • Review of rigging tasks and procedures, including Job Safety Analyses (JSA's) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs),
  • Maintain a professional work ethic through effective, honest communication with supervisors, peers, and operations personnel always.
  • Execute rigging operations, ensuring safety and efficiency in lifting and load-handling tasks.
  • Inspect and maintain lifting gear and associated rigging equipment to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
  • Assist in the development and review of lifting plans, risk assessments, and work permits.
  • Conduct and participate in safety briefings, toolbox talks, and inspections, ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols and regulations.
  • Ensure that all rigging gear is inspected and compliant with company requirement before utilising of them.
  • Train and mentor junior rigging personnel to promote skill development and enhance team productivity.
  • Collaborate with team members to align rigging activities with operational requirements and project/shutdown timelines

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Full Grade Twelve School Certificate
  • Minimum Certificate in Rigging or equivalent.
  • Significant 3 years’ experience in rigging and lifting operations, preferably in the mining or similar industry.
  • Ability to show initiative and possess good interpersonal skills.
  • Holder of a valid driving licence, will be an added advantage
  • Forklift, and overhead crane operations permit will be an added advantage.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills in English
