Job Summary

To implement the Sales business strategy according to the Absa Africa Markets Sales Strategy and Policies & Procedures, and in line with Group Values. The role holder will be expected to support Business Banking with Global Markets sales.

Job Description

Accountability: – 60%

Outputs:

Key actions to include:

  • Actively participating in the implementation of the Markets Sales Strategy in line with the Absa Africa Markets Sales Strategy and country sales requirements
  • Working closely with the Head of Markets Sales to implement Business Banking sales activities
  • Timely provision of rate sheets to branches
  • Monitoring FX cash levels in branches to ensure sufficient supply for customers within set limits.
  • Authorising FX transactions within authorised limits
  • Dealing in branch FX transactions with authorised branch dealers with limits
  • Helping senior sales team dealers to ensure that Relationship Managers, Branches and Corporate Service Centres process customer transactions timely.
  • Ensure that root cause processing errors on FX trades are identified, with appropriate training provided to branch officials
  • Ensure customer telephone calls are answered timely and directed to the appropriate personnel.
  • Ensure that all branch FX transactions are advised and covered through the FX trading desk for efficient management of FX position
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for both internal (Personal and Private Banking) and external Markets Sales clients, ensuring regular face-to-face engagement with the Personal and Private Banking team to promote teamwork
  • Achieving a leading position in the chosen products, markets and segments by:
  • Spending at least 50% of one’s time engaging branches
  • Giving superior customer service
  • Presenting the full Absa product set to clients whilst managing the product portfolio to suit client needs
  • Actively helping branches with required training needs to deliver the Absa FX strategy
  • Managing one’s client portfolio to generate strong growth and sustainable returns over the business cycle with special focus on Customer Service and Financial Performance
  • Ensure that Counterparty credit limits are not exceeded

Reporting 10%

Key actions to include:

  • Providing weekly reporting on client and sales volumes and profitability in one’s own portfolio
  • Provision of individual branch FX profitability reports to branches and management.
  • Providing detailed Management Information to the head of treasury sales on the composition, performance and profitability of the branch portfolios on a monthly basis
  • Assisting the Head of Markets Sales with any ad-hoc reporting requests

Risk Management 20%

Key actions to include:

  • Maintaining a strong compliance culture
  • Adhering to all the policies and procedures of the bank
  • Ensuring that all deals are dealt within dealer limits (market risk limits, counterparty limits, dealer’s mandate)
  • Ensuring high quality of service to all clients (reputational risk)

Personal Development 10%

Key actions to include:

  • Actively managing one’s own technical and soft skills development in conjunction with the Head of Markets Sales
  • Researching, identifying and proposing training solutions for own development to the Head of Markets Sales

Education

Higher Diplomas: Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required)

  • Actively participating in the implementation of the Markets Sales Strategy in line with the Absa Africa Markets Sales Strategy and country sales requirements
  • Working closely with the Head of Markets Sales to implement Business Banking sales activities
