Background

The Security Officer protects personnel, property, and assets by patrolling premises, monitoring surveillance (CCTV) systems, and controlling access points.

Key Responsibilities

Patrolling: Regularly inspect premises, including doors, windows, and gates, to prevent unauthorized access or safety hazards.

Access Control: Monitor entrances and exits, verify visitor credentials, and manage badges or logs.

Surveillance: Monitor CCTV cameras, alarm systems, and security equipment for disturbances or unlawful acts.

Emergency Response: Act as a first responder to fires, medical emergencies, or security breaches, coordinating with law enforcement when necessary.

Reporting: Prepare detailed, accurate daily logs and incident reports.

Enforcement: Enforce company policies, safety rules, and, if authorized, detain trespassers until police arrive.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Physical Fitness: Ability to stand or walk for long periods and patrol large areas.

Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for reporting and interacting with the public.

Observation: High level of attention to detail and ability to identify potential risks.

Licensing: Must meet local state/regional requirements, often including a background check and certification.

Experience: Previous security or law enforcement experience is preferred.
