In line with our corporate priorities aimed at ensuring optimization of revenue collection and increased tax compliance on one hand and the need to effectively manage the numerous challenges and opportunities in the fast-changing business environment on the other, we are seeking highly motivated, result-oriented, well-qualified and experienced professionals to fill the following vacant positions:
8.0 SENIOR DATA SCIENTIST-ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE, SALARY GRADE ZRA05 (4 POSITIONS), INNOVATION AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT FUNCTION
A. PURPOSE
Reporting to the AI Data Science Manager, the job holder will support the Authority’s corporate strategy by delivering data-driven insights and artificial intelligence solutions. The role involves collecting and processing data, developing machine learning models, and deploying AI solutions that enhance operational efficiency and decision-making within the Zambia Revenue Authority.
B. MAIN DUTIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Collaborating with business stakeholders to identify opportunities where Artificial Intelligence solutions can address business challenges.
- Translating business problems into structured data science problems and defining appropriate analytical approaches.
- Extracting and integrating data from various organisational data sources.
- Processing and preparing datasets for analysis and model development.
- Conducting statistical and exploratory data analysis to generate insights.
- Designing and developing machine learning models to address identified business needs.
- Iterating and refining models until they deliver reliable insights or are ready for deployment into production environments.
- Developing proof-of-concept prototypes to demonstrate the potential of AI solutions.
- Working with software engineers to integrate and operationalise machine learning models in production systems.
- Creating data visualisations and dashboards to communicate analytical insights to stakeholders.
- Ensuring that data usage complies with internal data governance policies and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Supervising and mentoring junior officers and providing technical guidance to the team.
- Keeping abreast of developments in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science to ensure the Authority remains technologically competitive.
C. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate or General Certificate of Education equivalent with five (5) credits including Mathematics and English;
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science or a related field;
- Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science or related field will be an added advantage;
- Minimum two (2) years’ experience in a Data Science or Machine Learning role or one (1) year Data Science experience with at least two (2) years Software Development experience;
- Strong knowledge of Machine Learning and Data Science concepts;
- Demonstrated skills in data analytics, data processing and computer programming; and
- Must possess Academic and Professional qualifications certified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority.
D. OTHER SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Research orientation and curiosity
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams
- High levels of integrity and professionalism
- Strong organisational and planning skills
- Knowledge of ZRA operations and tax administration will be an added advantage.
