Background

Eastern Tropical Fruit Company Limited (ETF) is a subsidiary of Zambia Fruit Company, under the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC). The Company operates a hybrid fruit and vegetable processing plant located in Katete District, Eastern Province of Zambia.

As part of its growth strategy, the Company is looking to fill the following position:

Role Overview:

The Senior Human Resource and Administration Officer will be responsible for overseeing the human resource and administrative functions of Eastern Tropical Fruits Limited (ETF). The role ensures effective management of recruitment, employee relations, performance management, compliance with labour laws, and delivery of administrative support services. The incumbent will work closely with management to foster a productive, compliant, and efficient work environment.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes to attract and retain competent staff.
  • Manage employee relations, including handling disciplinary matters, grievances, and conflict resolution.
  • Implement and monitor performance management systems and staff appraisal processes.
  • Ensure compliance with labour laws, company policies, and statutory requirements.
  • Administer payroll inputs, employee records, and HR information systems.
  • Develop and implement training and development programmes.
  • Oversee general administrative functions including office management, transport, and facilities.
  • Maintain and update HR policies, procedures, and organisational structures.
  • Provide advisory support to management on HR and administrative matters.
  • Ensure proper documentation, filing, and record-keeping systems for both HR and administration.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • Grade 12 Certificate.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resource management, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional membership with the Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management (ZIHRM).
  • Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.

  • Strong knowledge of labour laws and HR best practices.
  • Proven leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
  • Strong organisational and administrative capabilities.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and complex employee relations issues.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR systems.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
