OFI is currently seeking an experienced and dedicated professional for senior mechanic jobs in Zambia. We invite qualified candidates to apply for the position of Workshop Foreman, responsible for overseeing maintenance operations and ensuring the safe, efficient use of all machinery and equipment.
As the Workshop Foreman, you will lead a team of artisans responsible for the repair and upkeep of tractors, vehicles, and other machinery within our facilities. Your role is critical in maintaining operational readiness and minimizing downtime through proactive maintenance and efficient workshop management.
Responsibilities or duties
- Supervise and coordinate a team of artisans to ensure timely repair and maintenance of all farm machinery and vehicles.
- Oversee all workshops within NCCL to optimize employee productivity and workshop efficiency.
- Manage inventory by placing timely spare parts orders to prevent operational delays.
- Maintain and monitor service schedules and preventive maintenance programs to reduce major repairs and associated costs.
- Anticipate equipment breakdowns and coordinate with procurement to expedite spare parts approval and delivery.
- Develop and submit annual budgets for workshop operations, including both operational (OPEX) and capital expenditures (CAPEX).
- Prepare and submit regular reports covering electrical, irrigation, plumbing, and spare parts usage.
- Track progress of maintenance action plans to ensure timely implementation and informed decision-making.
- Maintain safety standards and hygiene across all workshop locations, ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Keep detailed records of vehicles entering and exiting for repairs to monitor downtime effectively.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
- Minimum of 5 years’ proven experience in a similar mechanical or foreman role.
- Diploma in Agricultural Mechanics or an equivalent qualification.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively lead teams and liaise with stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to implement process improvements that enhance workshop efficiency and reduce costs.
- Willingness to work extended hours as operational demands require.
