Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit a highly motivated and committed individual for the position of Senior Training Specialist – Assessor to join the versatile Learning & Development team. We are in search of individuals who can champion Barrick’s DNA by:

Reporting to the Training Coordinator – Ancillary and Drill& Blast, you will be responsible for evaluating workforce capability, ensuring training effectiveness, and maintaining compliance with organizational, regulatory, and industry standards.
Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
- Develop and maintain structured onboarding plans, content, and timelines for different roles/levels for the Process Operations employees.
- Design, implement, and maintain assessment tools, rubrics, and methodologies aligned with competency frameworks.
- Conduct assessments of knowledge, skills, and on‑the‑job performance through observations, simulations, testing, and practical evaluations.
- Ensure assessments are fair, consistent, valid, and compliant with internal and external standards.
- Analyze assessment data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Provide clear, constructive feedback to learners and leaders following assessments.
- Collaborate with instructional designers and trainers to ensure assessments align with learning objectives and training content.
- Review and validate training materials for accuracy, clarity, and compliance.
- Coach trainers and assessors to strengthen evaluation practices and instructional quality.
- Support continuous improvement of training programs based on assessment insights.
- Ensure assessment processes meet regulatory, audit, and organizational requirements (e.g., internal controls, safety, quality, or industry‑specific standards).
- Maintain accurate documentation of assessment outcomes, certifications, and learner progress.
- Uphold ethical assessment practices, confidentiality, and data integrity.
- Partner with operational leaders to understand role expectations and performance standards.
- Communicate assessment results, risks, and recommendations to leadership in a clear and actionable manner.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on assessment strategy, competency development, and evaluation best practices.
- Deliver theoretical and practical training for mining equipment and operational tasks.
- Conduct structured on-the-job coaching to improve employee efficiency, safety, and equipment utilization.
- Conduct workplace competency assessments using approved Competency Scorecards (CSC).
- Assess employee knowledge, skill, and behavioral compliance through observation, questioning, and practical demonstration
- Maintain accurate and complete training records within LMS and physical filing systems
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Full Grade 12 School Certificate.
- Minimum Diploma in any Engineering or related field
- Diploma in Teaching Methodology
- Minimum 3 years’ experience of operating and/or training in the mining industry.
- Significant experience in training, assessment, or learning and development roles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
