Background:

CHINA COPPER MINES LIMITED (CCM) was established in 2010 as a large-scale mining group established by private owning groups in the Republic of Zambia, known as the “country of copper mines”. The company’s business scope covers resource exploration, mining, hydrometallurgy, sulfuric acid chemical industry, trading and mining investment. In recent years, CCM had sprung up in the mining industry in Zambia with outstanding performance; in particular, the 'low-grade, complex and difficult ore-treating process' is a leading technology with great technical and economic advantages. China Copper Mines Limited is located in Fitula Mimbula, Chingola town, Copperbelt Province and is currently looking for candidates with good time management skills for the positions of Excavator Operators, Tipper Truck Driver, Statistician and Coordinator.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect, organize, and analyze data related to production, safety, equipment performance, and ore grades.
  • Develop statistical models to support decision-making in mine planning, resource estimation, and operational efficiency.
  • Conduct variance analysis on production targets versus actuals to identify areas of improvement.
  • Support geological and metallurgical teams with data analysis and interpretation for resource modelling.
  • Use statistical tools and software (e.g., R, Python, Excel, SPSS, SAS) to process large mining datasets.
  • Monitor trends in equipment downtime, fuel consumption, and other KPIs to optimize operations.
  • Assist in designing and analyzing quality control and assurance programs Prepare regular reports and dashboards for management and technical teams.
  • Evaluate risks and support safety analysis by identifying patterns in incident or near-miss data.
  • Collaborate with engineers, geologists, and planners to ensure data-driven decision-making.
  • Adhere to all site safety standards, including proper use of PPE and hazard reporting.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis software and data visualization tools.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex datasets.
  • Understanding of mining processes and terminology is a strong advantage.
  • Attention to detail and ability to present findings in a clear and actionable manner.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work in a multidisciplinary diverse environment.
  • Grade 12.
  • Curriculum vitae.
  • Valid silicosis.
