Background
The National Prosecution Authority (NPA) is an autonomous body established by the NPA Act No. 34 of 2010. Its mission is to “provide prosecution services to contribute to a crime free Zambia’. In its quest to improve service delivery, the Authority is hereby inviting applications from suitable candidates to fill the following positions:
STATISTICIAN
Employment type: Permanent and Pensionable
Salary Scale: NPA/04
Number of Positions: One (1)
Reports to: Senior Monitoring and Evaluation Officer
Duty Station: Headquarters
Job Purpose
To undertake data collection, processing, analysis and reporting in order to enhance decision making and the formulation, monitoring and evaluation of policies and programmes in the Authority.
Specific Duties and Requirements:
- Undertakes effectively the design and implementation and review of surveys, sampling strategies, and data collection tools suited to local contexts and procedures, and the setting up of appropriate data processing and analysis tools in order to enhance data quality and reporting.
- Undertakes effectively Analysis of datasets related to criminal justice, case management and case outcomes using appropriate statistical techniques to generate accurate insights and develops statistical models to identify trends, correlations, anomalies and projections.
- Interprets effectively analytical results in line with organizational needs and Zambian socio-economic indicators.
- Undertakes effectively the maintenance of an updated database for case statistics and other relevant data in order to enhance the availability of information for decision making.
- Undertakes effectively routine verification of data across the courts and respective NPA Stations in order to enhance and safeguard data quality and integrity.
- Undertakes effectively data analysis, modelling and reporting in order to track and measure the performance of the institution and the impact of interventions on the institution’s goals.
- Coordinates effectively institutional research in order to generate information for decision making.
- Provide technical support by providing statistical evidence and data visualization to aid Prosecution and Management in decision making and training to staff and stakeholders on statistical methods and data systems.
- Undertakes effectively provision of technical support in the development, implementation and review of the Institutional Strategic Plan in order to facilitate implementation of programmes and attain set objectives.
- Undertakes timely preparation of individual work plan in order to monitor and evaluate performance.
Qualifications and Work Experience
- Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate with 5 ‘0’ levels credits or better Including English and Mathematics
- Bachelors or Master’s degree in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Economics, Criminology quantitative or related field.
- Must be a Member of the Statistics Association of Zambia
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in statistical analysis, research, or data collection, analysis and interpretation and data management
- Must be a Zambian citizen
