Supervisor – Artisanal Mine (Geologist)
Location: Kasempa, Zambia
Our client, a well-established organisation in the mining sector, is seeking to recruit a qualified and experienced Geologist to take up the role of Supervisor – Artisanal Mine.
Position Summary
The Supervisor – Artisanal Mine (Geologist) will be responsible for providing geological oversight and technical supervision of artisanal mining operations. The role will ensure proper ore body identification, grade control, responsible extraction practices, and compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
The successful candidate must have hands-on field experience and a strong understanding of small-scale or artisanal mining environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide geological supervision of daily artisanal mining activities
- Conduct ore body mapping, sampling, and grade control
- Guide miners on proper extraction methods to minimise dilution and ore loss
- Monitor production output and geological consistency
- Enforce health, safety, and environmental compliance standards
- Maintain accurate geological and operational records
- Liaise with regulatory authorities and local stakeholders where required
- Identify and mitigate geological and operational risks
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Geology (Mandatory)
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in artisanal or small-scale mining operations
- Practical experience in field mapping, sampling, and grade control
- Strong understanding of mining safety standards and regulatory compliance
- Proven ability to supervise teams in remote site locations
Note: Applications without a Geology qualification will not be considered.
