Background
Nanga Farms Limited is a large, irrigated sugarcane estate situated 25Km Northeast of Mazabuka in the Southern Province of Zambia. The company is part of the ABF Sugar Group, and its main activities are the cultivation of 2,860 hectares of sugarcane and the rearing of 1,400 head of cattle. The Company now invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of:
Supervisor-Agriculture x1 – Seasonal
Seasonal Role Reporting to – Farm Supervisor
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implements the field plans as provided by the farm Supervisor
- Executes weekly planned activities on the farm
- Daily Labour Supervisor
- Submits routine daily reports to the Farm Supervisor
- Labour man-days recording and reporting (time booking keeping)
- Submits weekly activity reports
- Ensure discipline is maintained amongst subordinates.
- Act as a liaison between workers and Management, ensuring messages and instructions are communicated clearly in both directions
- Assist in recording attendance, production figures, and any incidents in the field.
Health & Safety
- Ensure team members wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Monitor adherence to safety guidelines and report incidents or hazards immediately
- Conduct basic safety talks or briefings before work begins.
Performance Monitoring
- Track team output and motivate workers to meet daily and weekly targets.
- Identify under performance and suggest corrective action or support where needed
- Implements the Company Safety, Health, Environment and Quality Management Policy in the Section
Knowledge & Skills Required
- Should have good communication skills
- Able to work independently with minimum supervision
- Basic leadership and people Management Skills
- Knowledge of field tasks (harvesting,weeding, planting,spraying)
Work Environment
- Field-Based: Majority of time spent outdoors in field conditions
- Physical Demanding: Walking, standing, and monitoring workers over large field Areas
- Team-Focused: Works closely with large teams and reports to supervisor daily
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Grade twelve (12) School Certificate with at least five credits
- Zambian with Green National Registration Card
- Diploma in General Agriculture
- Minimum 1 year of experience in the job
- Registered with Zambia Institute of Agriculture
- Should be 18 years and above.
