Responsibilities or duties

This position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.

  • Coordinate and supervise daily field construction activities
  • Ensure works are executed in accordance with approved designs and specifications
  • Monitor workforce productivity and resource utilization, verifying equipment and labour resources are adequate for project requirements
  • Support short-term and weekly construction planning and provide daily/weekly progress reports
  • Monitor project schedules and identify potential delays, tracking physical progress against planned targets
  • Provide daily and weekly progress reports
  • Coordinate inspections with QA/QC personnel
  • Participate in construction meetings and progress reviews
  • Lead frontline safety management
  • Conduct pre-work inspections and toolbox talks
  • Ensure compliance with permits and safe work procedures

Qualifications or requirements

  • Full grade twelve (12) certificate
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, mining engineering, water engineering or a closely related discipline
  • Professional registration with recognized engineering body (EIZ/ERB)

Experience needed

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in earthworks and construction
  • Demonstrated exposure to bulk earthworks, dams construction, buttresses, drainage systems, construction materials and field quality control
  • Experience supervising work fronts on large projects
  • Experience in a mining or other high-consequence infrastructure environment is advantageous
  • Key skills
