VACANCY ADVERTISEMENT: SUPERVISOR – RUBBER TYRED VEHICLES (RTV)

Lumumba Mining Company seeks to recruit highly motivated and committed employees for the position of Supervisor – Rubber Tyred Vehicles to join the versatile Maintenance Team. We are in search of individuals who can champion Barrick's DNA by:

Reporting to the Coordinator – Rubber Tyred Vehicles (RTV), you will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and effective maintenance of the rubber-tyred vehicle fleet, including large wheel loaders, graders, lowbeds, service trucks, water carts, fuel bowsers, and more supporting safe and efficient mine operations.

Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Supervise day-to-day maintenance, repair, and servicing of the RTV fleet, including:
    • CAT 993K/994K wheel loaders, CAT 24M & 16 graders, Komatsu 825 graders, CAT 777 lowbeds, tire handlers, cable reelers, fuel bowsers, service trucks, water trucks, Komatsu HM400 trucks, and other support equipment.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor a team of technicians, artisans, and operators to ensure high-quality workmanship and compliance with OEM standards.
  • Develop and implement effective maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and maximize fleet availability.
  • Monitor equipment performance, analyze failure trends, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to all safety, health, and environmental policies, including conducting risk assessments and implementing corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with operations, planning, and supply chain teams to prioritize work and ensure availability of parts and resources.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and shift logs.
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues and provide technical guidance.
  • Support budgeting, cost control, and forecasting for RTV maintenance activities.

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Craft/Advanced Certificate in Mechanical, Electrical or other related Engineering field acceptable with strong experience).
  • Minimum 5–8 years’ experience working with heavy mining or construction equipment, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong understanding of preventive maintenance and reliability practices.
  • Strong technical knowledge of CAT and Komatsu equipment, especially large loaders, graders, and auxiliary machines
  • Competence in interpreting technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic software
  • Proven leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
  • Strong commitment to safety and compliance.
  • Computer literacy in maintenance systems (SAP, Pronto, or similar) is an advantage.
  • Member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia
  • Valid Zambian driver’s license or ability to obtain one.
