Job Summary
The System Administrator maintains reliable, secure and well-documented server environments across all premises and cloud infrastructure.
Main Duties
- Installs, configures and maintains server operating systems and application environments across development, testing, staging and production.
- Monitors availability, utilisation, capacity and performance, and applies patches through approved change procedures.
- Supports deployment and rollback of approved application releases.
- Manages system identities, service accounts, certificates and permissions.
- Implements and verifies backups, conducts recovery testing and supports high-availability and disaster-recovery arrangements.
- Troubleshoots infrastructure incidents escalated from the Service Desk and provides log evidence during investigations.
- Implements security configurations with the Cybersecurity Expert and coordinates hosting requirements with the Database Administrator.
- Automates routine tasks and maintains infrastructure diagrams, configuration records and operating procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or a related field.
- At least four years' relevant systems-administration experience.
- Demonstrated experience administering production server environments.
Added Advantage
- Relevant Microsoft, Linux, Azure, AWS, VMware or comparable certification.
- Experience supporting health information systems.
- Scripting or infrastructure-automation experience.
Technical Knowledge and Skills
Windows and/or Linux server administration; virtualisation; cloud environments; networking fundamentals; PowerShell/Bash or comparable scripting; backup and recovery; system monitoring; certificates; identity and access management; deployment support
